just finished watching the last episode of heroes, which all in all is a pretty good watch. i must admit though i have one very big issue with the dramatic ending (SPOILER ALERT - if you haven't completed watching the entire series then stop reading this paragraph), which is when peter petrelli's brother flew in and picked up his brother to fly off to space to explode, thus saving the world. my problem is, that since flying was basically the very first power that peter absorbed from his brother in one of the earliest episodes, why didn't he just fly off into space himself? this way he would still survive with the power of invulnerability that he gained from the cheerleader, and his brother wouldn't have to die. doh.
anyway. i was driving in sydney tonight and i realised that i love how australian motorists automatically stop when they hear a siren, and even get out of the way by riding curbs and driving to the other other side of the road to let an ambulance or the police through. yes yes there is the penalty of a monetary fine if you don't do so, but even then it really is a very simple yet powerful demonstration of human compassion. you would never ever observe such a scene in singapore.

also, i killed the biggest damn spider that i've ever seen in my life tonight. (being a massive arachnophobe, this is a huge achievement) i was sitting in the car waiting for gwyn when a huntsman spider exactly like in the picture on the right dashed across the windscreen. fortunately it was outside the car, and there was a can of insecticide in the car. thank God for small mercies.. anyway we sprayed it with enough insecticide to fill a pool but it still wouldn't die. then it proceeded to fall off the car and onto the road, so i took my slipper and smacked it straight to spider heaven/hell. (with a tissue spread out over it of course, they were nice slippers)
i hate spiders.
